Hey Reader! I want to thank those of you who took the time to check out the poll in the YouTube Community! It's nice to have more votes! If you haven't had a chance and want to add your vote, go to the @AnEquineJourney YouTube Community and join the conversation! 🤠 I look forward to more participation! In addition to being thankful for the extra interaction in the YouTube Community, I am thankful that the wildfire smoke disappeared today! ...and I am equally thankful that my young mare remembered everything that we did together before I left for vacay! She seemed aloof when I showed up today ...and there was a 'Who are you?' moment but then she came alive when I carted everything from the truck to the arena and came back to get her! (I now realise that I didn't have my helmet on when I first went to see her! Maybe she didn't recognise me without my helmet on 😅) Anyway, it was like she suddenly knew we were going to work together again! I walked and trotted her in hand, both ways of the arena, did a few groundwork exercises with her, and then ...the moment of truth! I brought out the saddle pad and the surcingle, reintroduced her to both, and it was as though she'd had it on yesterday! I cinched up the surcingle over the saddle pad and proceeded to go through all the same exercises with her. We ended at the mounting block where I added my weight on her back and she was great! We almost always think our horses aren't going to be able to pick up where we left off. It's a worry that we shouldn't have. If we've left them in a good place and reintroduce them slowly, in the same manner that we did prior to leaving them, chances are they will be just fine! Is there something you worry unnecessarily about when it comes to horses or something else in your life? It pays to be like a horse ...be in the moment and don't worry about something that doesn't exist! Well, I hope you had a great Friday and are going to have a nice weekend! ...until I hear from you, stay well and take care... Remember, if you’ve missed previous emails (the public ones, at least), you can go here to read them. -Sylvia (thankful) Schneider PS - Here are some handy links to information:
