Hey Reader!

Today, September 3rd, brings up some strong memories for me!

It's the first day of the Spruce Meadows MASTERS tournament!

Spruce Meadows has often been touted the number one show jumping venue in the world. ...and the MASTERS is a showjumping tournament to which the highest level of show jumpers travel, from all over the world, to compete.

Spruce Meadows is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

I'm experiencing FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) because I spent many, many years at Spruce Meadows as both a vendor for my various horsey endeavours, and as media in their media centre interviewing athletes and other significant people for the Equinely-Inclined! audio podcast.

Why am I not there this year?

Well, I haven't been there since the 2019 MASTERS as the pandemic hit and everything was closed down for a few years.

Additionally, when I contracted Covid in December 2022, my version of Covid was long and intense so I had to put the podcast on hiatus.

Although I want to get the podcast going again, it will likely never be the same as I no longer have the energy required to spend hours and days at a venue, arranging interviews and then running around interviewing a dozen or so people.

If you want to listen to the many past podcast interviews, you can access them on this page under the heading Make Your Choice.

No matter where you are while you're reading this, it's always worth taking a trip to Calgary during the MASTERS as Spruce Meadows always has several events and activities happening in conjunction with the tournament.

I can't think of a better way to indulge your love for horses!

So, even if you're travelling with a non-horse-loving person, there's guaranteed to be something of appeal to them!

If you're planning to attend from afar, make plans now for attending next year.

If you're planning to attend from close to Calgary, you might want to check the Calgary air quality index before you go as they are having issues with wildfire smoke at the moment but, I think it should be okay by this weekend 🤞🤠

I hope you get a chance to go to Calgary to experience the Spruce Meadows MASTERS!

If you're going there, let me know! I'll be a little jealous 💚 but happy for you! 💕

...so, until I hear from you, stay well and take care...

Remember, if you’ve missed previous emails (the public ones, at least), you can go here to read them.
