Hey Reader! Happy Monday! After sending daily emails for so long, it's more difficult now to try and plan an email-sending schedule ...but I know I'm not up to sending daily yet! I've had a long enough time now to think about how I might have done things differently, on that fateful day on September 15, 2025 ...if only I could turn back time. You might have ideas of what I would have changed. ...and you might be wrong about what I would change! π If I could change just one thing to prevent the fall of my life, I would have not left my home that morning, knowing I was just a little too tired to perform at my best! I know that sounds too easy but it would have been the best thing to do! ...and it's something for anyone who works with young horses to think about! When it comes to what I did with my horse, I doubt I would have changed anything because what happened was so bizarre and unexpected! I've learned a lot during my broken hip experience (which I rate 0 π out of 5 stars! βοΈ; I do not recommend!) and maybe you can pass this info along to anyone you know. Did you know? ...a hip replacement is easier to recover from than a broken hip. A replacement also has a more consistent upward trajectory of improvement than recovery from a fracture repair! (I mention this because there are a lot of older riders and there are older riders who worry about this.) Did you know? ...(in my region) when you go home from the hospital you're expected to give yourself daily injections of an anti-coagulant shot. (Had I known that, I think I would have accepted their offer to go to an intermediary facility for more recovery!) Did you know? ...pain medicine withdrawal can act like pain in your body so you wind up on different pain meds to try and get over that pain π¬ Did you know? ...you could have a reaction to a pain med that slows down your recovery? π Did you know? ...you might have to go through pain med withdrawal and that's a whole thing all on its own! The good news is I'm really doing really quite well now and, for that, I'm thankful! I'm trying to schedule another email for next Monday and will try to make it a little more horse-oriented. I hope you're all doing well! π If ever you want to chat about anything, just reply to this email and let me know! ...until I hear from you, stay well and take care... Remember, if youβve missed previous emails (the public ones, at least), you can go here to read them.β -Sylvia (πΌIf I could turn back time πΆπ΅) Schneider PS - Here are some handy links to information:
